Herbs and Astrology is year-long course for practitioners and others to learn astrology to use in clinical practice. The aim of the course is show how Astrology can deepen and enrich your practice as a herbalist or other practitioner and to give you practical skills to use Astrology, both as Temperament and Decumbiture in your practice and then offer optional continuing supervision to build confidence and technique.
I have been using astrology in my practice for over 45 years and have found it invaluable to understand my clients, choose my remedies and adjust my practice from a symptom based to a holistic approach to healing body, mind, spirit and emotions.
I outline my practice in my book Traditional Western Herbal Medicine Aeon Books (1999)
To accommodate overseas students we will meet at 08.30 on Sundays.
Classes will last 60-90 minutes and there will be time for questions.
The recordings will be available for 3 months after each lesson and thereafter will form part of a standalone course.
Term 1: We will cover:
Sept 21st : Fire planets and signs, herbs, foods, activities, mindsets, emotions associated with them
October 5th: Earth planets and signs etc.
October 19th: Water planets and signs etc.
October 26th: Air planets and signs etc.
November 9th: Houses and aspects.
November 23rd: The Temperament putting it all together.
Term 3
The aim is to show your learning and application in practice of medical astrology as studied in the course. At the end of term, a decumbiture and a Temperament chart is to be submitted showing your practice and craft. This can be done privately 1:1 with me or in a group setting online, written or orally delivered.
On the first meeting I will outline the information I will be looking for in both presentations.
The presentation needs to be finished and assessed by me before the end of June 2026.
There will an opportunity to join a monthly humoral group where we look at Decumbiture and Temperament charts of our clients.
CPD: The course will give @ 25 hours CPD.

Course FAQs
How much study time is involved?
There won’t be much study time, students will be able to buy my book at a discount and then I will ask them to read the relevant chapter in the book.
I like charts for learning and so over the course you will fill in a couple of charts which give a quick reference guide to use what you have learnt.
Optionally, as we go along you can look at people you know and think about how what we studied fits in with what you know about them.
I am a practical person so I will keep theory to the minimum needed to work with astrology.
Your own understanding brings the subject alive.
Are the Sunday morning sessions mandatory to attend live, or can they be watched the same week, at a different time?
No, they are not mandatory, if you attend live you have the opportunity to ask questions in the chat, but otherwise watching the recording is fine. The recordings will be available for 3 months.
Can I join if I don’t know anything about herbs?
Yes you can.
I’m not a practitioner I just have an interest in astrology – would this be suitable for me still and would I be able to develop a practice from it or will be more for personal development?
You don’t need to be a practitioner, there are several on the course who are not. In term 1 You will learn to basics of astrology, planets, signs and houses with a slant to health and well being but the learning can be used in any way personally or for clients or people of any kind. Term 2 looks specifically at health issues and will answer the questions.

which again can be used personally or for other people you know.
Term 3 is where you can present your work, one chart of each type, again useful to test your learning.
What if I can’t make all the classes?
The class will be recorded, and the recording will be available to catch up. Recordings will be available for 3 months. The reason I chose the time is so people in other time zones can join in, but I understand it is not always possible.
Is there a payment plan?
You can pay for the whole term up front or in 2 halves, the second payment is due before the 4th class: October 26th.
How do I join?

Is there support between classes?
You have the option to join our Whatsapp group where you can interact with other students and ask questions.
Can I invite other people?
Yes, if you know other people who are interested do share.
When will you be repeating the course?
My plan is to use the recordings from this year and make a perennial course from them next year. I will put it up on Teachable, it will be more expensive as I have to pay fees there. There may not be much interaction between me and the students, perhaps a Whats app group, I haven’t decided. I may, of course, change my mind and repeat it next year in the same way, but this is not guaranteed.
When would the perennial course likely to run and would it be a similar cost?
I hope to upload Part 1 over the Christmas break (but no guarantees!). It will cost around 50% more (also not set in stone).
Magical Herbalism is a 4 part series and is an exploration of the four seasons of the Traditional Astrological and the Pagan year. In each talk Elisabeth will look at the forthcoming season and its benefits and challenges, the foods and temperament associated with it.
