Misogyny….

Misogyny, from the Greek miso-hate, gynae-women is as prevalent as it was in Ancient Greece. Can we see it in the horoscope or is it less nature than nurture?

For this essay I look at two current misogynists both of whom have come a cropper due to their women-hating behaviour.

I wondered what I would expect to see in a misogynist’s chart, the ‘female’ planets, Venus and the Moon afflicted by the malefic planets, Pluto, Uranus, Saturn and Mars and both or either of them in fall or detriment by sign.

Andrew Tate (no time) is currently under house arrest in Romania, charged with multiple counts of sex-trafficking and sexual abuse. He denies the charges. Tate, despite not having his time of birth so the houses and angles cannot be calculated, delivers on both counts. His Venus is in fall in Scorpio and is conjunct Pluto and Mercury. Venus is very unhappy in Scorpio and in my experience, Venus conjunct Pluto often shows sexual abuse and/or controlling behaviour. And remember, abusers are often abused as children and are following a damaged role model. I don’t know if this is the case with Tate.

Secondly, his Moon has little dignity in Sagittarius. It is conjunct the Sun which burns the energy of the Moon weakening it, and Saturn, the greater malefic, which crushes the emotions and sensitivity of the Moon. As we don’t have his birth time, his Moon might be 6′ either side of the Moon shown here, so it could be 15′ degrees and so applying to a wide conjunction of Uranus at 22′ Sagittarius. Uranus can show violence, conjunct the Moon can show violence towards women and/or a mother who was absent emotionally and or physically. The Moon also is in opposition to Chiron, the wound. In fact, if the Moon is at a later degree it makes a T square with Jupiter in Pisces, if at an earlier degree it will form a square to Mars in Pisces. In either case, the Moon is weak and unhappy.

In December 2022 Tate was arrested and spent several months in prison. On June 13th 2023 he was indicted with the more serious crime a ‘human trafficking in continued form’ which carries a harsher jail sentence. On that day the Sun was opposite his Uranus at 21′ Gemini shining a light on violence (Uranus). The Sun would have passed over the Moon at some point perhaps showing the evidence gathering happening in the background. On June 13th, Jupiter was opposite Venus at 5′ Taurus. The Law (Jupiter) picking up his sex-crimes (Venus in Scorpio). So, both the ‘love’ planets are energised. On August 4th Tate was released into house arrest. Saturn was conjunct Mars (5′ Pisces), Mercury was opposite Jupiter (8′ Virgo) and Mars was opposite Jupiter (15′ Virgo) and Chiron was conjunct his North Node indicating this was a significant date for his destiny.

Clearly, we don’t know the outcome and so far, no trial date has been announced but it is believed it could take years to come to trial. With such a long, drawn out process, we have to look to the transits of the slow moving planets. The most obvious one, Uranus, is slowly passing over his Scorpio planets by opposition. It was exactly opposite his Venus in April 2020, his Pluto in March 2021 and was opposite Mercury May 15th 2023, the next and final aspects to his Venus will be on January 10th (retrograde) and February 13th 2024, there may be further developments around that time. Interestingly, in 2019, when Uranus was opposing his Venus, it was perhaps a surprise to him (Uranus) that the rape charges (Venus in Scorpio conjunct Pluto) were dropped by the CPS in London. Although this will come as no surprise to anyone who knows the police’s record on rape prosecutions.

More interesting, though will be Jupiter’s transit through Gemini which will oppose all his Sagittarius planets. The first hit will be to his Sun in July 2024 and the last one to Uranus in May 2025. This will be his Uranus half-return, the classic mid-life crisis time. Jupiter will also be conjuncting his Chiron in April 2025, which might bring his downfall, certainly a time when his pain (Chiron) expands (Jupiter). Jupiter, of course, rules the law.

So, both the Moon and Venus are showing his misogyny, or as Greta Thunberg referred to it as ‘his little dick energy’.

How about Russel Brand, recently reported to be a rapist and abuser? What can we see in his chart? His Moon is in fiery Aries without dignity conjunct a powerful Mars in Aries, which repeats the pattern of a weak and afflicted Moon conjunct a malefic planet (Mars). Mars in Aries is the warrior but also the selfish bully. One can imagine his libido was high, for sure, Mars in Aries doesn’t like to take no for an answer. The Moon is opposite another malefic, Pluto. Moon Pluto often shows a mother-wound and sometimes maternal abuse. Brand’s mother had a lot of ill-health as a child and he was farmed out to relatives. Moon in Aries can show selfishness, it is all about their pleasure, their pain, their desires and they can have difficulty considering the emotions of others.

Brand’s Venus, dignified in Cancer is square Uranus and Chiron, again indicating a besieged planet. Interesting that it is Uranus again showing (perhaps) violence and cruelty against the feminine. Venus, Uranus and Chiron make a Cardinal T Square configuration, a Grand Square if you count the Ascendant. This means that any planet making contact with either arm of the cross will activate the whole cross, both the planets and the houses they are found in, in Brand’s case, the 1st, 7th, 2nd and 8th.

It is useful to use transits to see which planets are activated when events occur. In Brand’s case, we see a lot of Jupiter and Uranus activity. In 2006, he is accused of having an abusive relationship with a 16 year old girl, when he was in his thirties, not illegal but pretty sleazy. Uranus was conjunct Lilith that year (around 14′ Pisces). Lilith, is the planet of the dark feminine, the rebellious woman. The following year he was , 2007, he was accused of sexual assault and having an abusive relationship, Jupiter was conjunct his Neptune at 10′ Sagittarius that year.

On July 1st 2012 it was reported he raped a woman in Los Angeles, and this attack has documentation. Uranus was conjunct his Mars and Part of Fortune at 8′ Aries. In previous blogs we have seen how Uranus Mars often shows up as violence. In 2013, the Uranus transit was still in action and he is accused of another sexual assault with a woman he was working with. At the same time Jupiter was conjunct his Mercury at 22′ Gemini, it was reported that Brand threatened the woman with legal action if she told anyone. This is one way the rich avoid exposure, the threat of punishing, expensive libel suits, which ordinary people cannot afford.

In 2020 the 16 year old contacted Brand’s literary agent telling them what had happened. In that year Jupiter was traveling across Brand’s Ascendant and triggering the Grand Cross/T Square. However, because it was the benefic Jupiter making the aspect, Brand was protected, nothing was done. Jupiter protected Brand just as Jupiter protected Tate from the rape accusation in London. For Tate, Jupiter is a strong planet because he has his Sun in Sagittarius, while Brand has a Sagittarius MC.

Pluto first hit Brand’s Grand Cross with the square to Chiron at 26 Aries in January 2022, its last aspect will be a square to Uranus at 28 Libra 49 on December 12th 2023. His Pluto transit will last 2 years in total. The Sunday Times and Channel 4 journalists who put the investigation together said they took years to check their facts, so perhaps this again is working in the background until it hit his Ascendant on September 4th.

On September 15th when the revelations were first aired, or rather before they were aired, Brand seized the narrative and made an Instagram post denying them all and claiming it was an attack by the mainstream media who were trying to silence him. Chiron was conjunct his Jupiter at 19′ Aries, which may be taken to show his luck has run out, while Mars was applying to conjunct his Pluto at 3′ Libra (exact 7th September). It remains to be seen how events will play out, currently the Metropolitan police are looking at another rape allegation. Brand’s last Pluto contact is in December. Certainly, he has taken a financial hit, You Tube has blocked his revenue stream, Jupiter, the planet that rules his MC is in the 2nd house as is his natal Chiron.

In both cases their natal Venus and the Moon were afflicted by malefic planets and Uranus which I see as violence is implicated by transit (Tate) and nataly (Brand).

This, of course, does not mean to say that anyone with these configurations will be an abuser, the joy of astrology is that planets in your horoscope can work out on many levels, the planets incline, they do not compel.
