More change: Jupiter moves into Cancer
Jupiter enters Cancer at 22.02 BST Monday June 9th and will stay there until June 30th 2026. Jupiter moves into its sign of dignity. Jupiter the expansive planet is happy in boundless Cancer, moving from its place of detriment, Gemini where it has been since May 26th 2024. Jupiter doesn’t like Gemini because Gemini is small details, while Jupiter is the big picture, the wide view, it is philosophy, spirituality, long distance travel, astrology and the law. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer because it likes the softness and the sentimentality of Cancer. Unlike logical Gemini, Cancer is all about the feels. It gives us the opportunity not just to talk, like Gemini, but to empathise and connect on a heart level, something the world sorely needs at the moment. Cancer loves to nurture and feels a strong bond with family, whether biological or not. Cancer has her small tribe and she treasures them for the long term.
Jupiter in Cancer will nourish these bonds and our sense of community and heart-based connection with other people. Family bonds may be strengthened and children welcomes into the tribe. However, Cancer can be very sensitive and mindful of their own feelings at the expense of other people’s feelings.
Clannish, is another way to describe this. You are in or you are out. In is warm and cosy and safe, out is the door shut in your face and banishment. This can be a very hurtful experience if you become the scapegoat and are cast out.
But Cancer is not passive, it is a cardinal sign and so has no trouble taking action, even if it is in a crablike non-direct way. Cancer feels and Jupiter connects and philosophises, together they make for a deep, mindful year.
The first aspects Jupiter will make are difficult ones, on June 15th it will make a square aspect to Saturn, newly in Aries and then a square to Neptune also just in Aries on the 19th of June. This may show us how the power struggle between Cancer and Aries will work out. Aries is rash and aggressive, Cancer careful and watchful. But As we have seen, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and so has much more dignity than either Saturn of Neptune which are debilitated in Aries.
Jupiter in Cancer can be sentimental but also experts in their field. They can succumb to escapism and especially drugs alcohol, or be so sensitive they find life intolerable. Creatives are found with this placement including Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Hendrix, Heath Leger who arguably were casualties of their fame, while Mick Jagger, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Jennifer Lawrence survived it. People with Jupiter in Cancer in their natal charts have gentle natures and a good to be around, they are gracious and generous, and may not want the limelight.
Jupiter represents growth, freedom, moving on and up.
I didn’t want to bring US politics into this, but the bro bust-up between Musk and 47, Musk being a double Cancer, suggests as Jupiter heads over his Sun and Ascendant he will be looking to shake off Trump, and this indeed is what is happening.
Also note, Musk’s Saturn ruler of his 7th house of open enemies is at 1’11 Gemini. Uranus will enter Gemini on July 7th and conjunct his Saturn on August 11th 2025. Saturn Uranus is explosive (Uranus) and endings (Saturn) dynamite meets a brick wall in other words. Jupiter conjuncts Musk’s Sun at 5’53 Cancer on July 5th and goes over his Ascendant at 13’29 on August 9th and his Mercury (ruler of his 12th house of self undoing) on the 11th of August. Jupiter over the Ascendant, his Jupiter rules his 9th house of foreign travel and the law, suggests moving away, will his visa be cancelled? Or will a foreign government entice him and his fortune to more amenable climes?
Jupiter in Gemini has been protecting 47, moving into Cancer it will hit his Mercury, ruler of the 2nd (Musk has been bankrolling him), will he find another sugar daddy? Jupiter will hit his Saturn on October 13th 2025. Saturn also rules his 7th house of open enemies, and his 6th house of employees and health. This suggests more trouble at work, and perhaps health issues, he will be 80 by then. Jupiter then conjuncts his Venus, not making the exact aspect until June 8th 2026. As Venus rules his MC, it may be he will be set free from his public role. Post script: in terms of great showings of astrology, the row between them broke up when transiting Mars was exactly conjunct 47’s natal Mars. Mars rules his 4th house of endings as well as being without dignity (peregrine) which sums him up really.
