A question of winning and losing, the by-election in Clacton.
I had to ask, before the by-election who would win. Horary charts must describe the protagonists and the symbolism here is both hilarious and revealing.
Count Bin Face is shown by the planet ruling the ascendant, in this case, Saturn in Aries in the 2nd house. Saturn rules waste generally, rubbish, and where does rubbish go? Into the bin. Where was this bin? On his head. The head is ruled by Aries. So Count Bin Face is shown by Saturn in Aries. Saturn is in fall in Aries and also retrograde, so a weak bin. He is in the second house, the house of money. The by-election was precipitated by questions about Farage’s finances, particularly, a £5 million bung, and other dodgy ‘contributions’.
Contests are shown by the 10th house and the 5th house. The ruler of the 10th is Mars in Gemini in the 5th. Mars is void of course, except for a trine to the North Node. Mars has slight dignity in Gemini (term). Mars in Gemini suggests double speak, if not being economical with the truth and also the endless misinformation and aggression that Farage and his ilk disseminate.
The ruler of the 5th is Mercury, recently moved into Leo in the 7th house. Mercury is peregrine, it has no essential dignity, but has accidental dignity (being in the 7th house). Mercury’s next aspect is a trine to a fortune, Venus strong in Libra, or, if non-traditional planets are used, a square to Chiron in Taurus in the 3rd house. Mercury also rules the 8th house of other people’s money, which suggests Mercury does indeed represent the querent.
Is there an aspect between Saturn and Mercury, no. So, we look to the Moon as co-significator. The Moon, strong in Cancer, can also rule the people, it rules the 7th house. The Moon’s next aspect is a square to Saturn. This also suggests a no answer. And as it turned out, this was the case.
Although, Count Bin Face did much better than expected with around 27% of the vote, Farage won easily and comfortably. His victory was soured because he refused to turn up at the count or the declaration. At first citing police advice that his security might be compromised, which turned out to be untrue, no such advice was given. Then he said he was afraid of being put in a humiliating position by the other candidates. Such a great expression of boastful Mercury in Leo, standing on his dignity and sulking off in case it is not respected. In the time honoured way of all bullies, they can give it out but they can’t take it. Mercury applying to a square to Chiron shows the ‘victory’ was tarnished by his own peevishness. Once he was elected, the investigation into his finances resumed, so nothing whatsoever was gained, indeed he has lost face and is being ridiculed, Farage and the Bin are forever joined.
As Bin Face said earlier in the week, although Farage might win, he has lost. His churlish behaviour has tarnished his standing. Reform have sunk lower in the polls and for the first time for a year behind Labour, with the Tories catching up. This epitomises that weak Mercury in Leo, wanting to be the King but instead becoming the court jester, the butt of jokes.
